The 9mm Luger was first introduced in 1902 making it one of the oldest and yet still widely used pistol cartridges in the world. The 9mm Luger (aka 9 x 19 Parabellum) gained popularity around the world after seeing action in World War I, and has since been adapted in over 70 countries worldwide as the law enforcement and military pistol round of choice. The 9mm Luger was also chosen by NATO as its standard issue pistol cartridge due to its impressive combination of flat trajectories and moderate recoil. The 9mm Luger has also gained quite a following in competitive pistol circles and where power factors come into play for determining divisions of competition.
